GTA Online Heists - The Flecca Job
Posted by
Mark
With the launch of the long awaited Heist update, last week, I like many others returned to the streets of Los Santos looking to scratch that criminal itch. This time for me though, I managed to bring some friends along for the ride. My long time buddy, Catseyez joined me as we ventured into the first heist, a simple grab job on a out of town bank.
Each heist comprises of several mission in a story arc. To start of with you need to case and plan the score. Then come the preparation tasks before finally taking on the heist. This start off heist is for 2 players only and serves as a tutorial. After meeting with Lester ( the heist mastermind from the main game.) he takes you to the Fleeca Bank out on the highway and helps you case the place. Then we needed to grab a armoured car from the local gangbangers and whilst I was the driver, the other player acts the hacker and the driller for the heist.
With everything in place we set off to do bad things...
Having spent almost 3 hours the week before doing the Vault of Glass in Destiny for the first time, I can safely say that I had more fun in the 45 minutes it took to rob a bank, than in all of Destiny's centre piece. Due to time constraints I havent been able to go further into the heists mode, but what I have touched has propelled GTA Online to the top of my mulitplayer games.

Little Gamers Update - Looking back at 2014
Posted by
Mark
So 2015 is upon us all and the gaming industry is looking ahead as to what will define 2015. Rather late to the party, I wanted to take a look back at 2014 an what it meant to me and what games shone out in 2014.
2014 was the year I jumped on to the Next Gen train and have not looked back. Since getting a PlayStation 4 in March, I have played 60 PS4 titles! Not a bad amount for a new console in its first year. The Vita is still a wonderful piece of kit andhas never been far from my side and is still home to some of my best gaming moments of the year. The PS3 keeps moving around the house, as soon as I give it to the Little Gamers to play on something comes up on PS Plus that makes me take right back into my gaming den.
So what were my highlights of the year, which game swill go down as the most memorable, fun and sometimes broken? Indulge me as I take a look at my own Games of 2014 list.

PlayStation Plus Update - November 2014
Posted by

Let's get it out of the way right away. Last Months PS PLUS Update was a bit of a disaster. DriveClub PS Plus Edition failed to turn up due to the disastrous launch of the full game. The future of the PS Plus Edition is still unknown, as of writing it is officially postponed with no firm release date. This has angered quite alot of PlayStation Plus subscribers, many of them took out Plus to get DriveClub a year ago, when the console launched. So Sony really need to step up their game this month in order to appease the growling masses.
Unfortunately, they haven't and it is another month of indie titles for the majority of users. With that said, there are some must have games included in this. Now for some reason this month has not seen an official post by the PlayStation Blog to confirm this month's additions. Although I received an email confirming half of them, which was weird. So this list could be subject to change (but I highly doubt it).

It is another mixed bag this month on the Instant Game Collection. Some people do not appear to be too happy with the list of games announced yesterday. Personally, I am very happy. So what is gaming goodness to PlayStation Plus subscribers get next week.

Middle~Earth: Shadow of Mordor - Launch Trailer
Posted by
Mark
This game has come out of nowhere for me. In the last few days the reviews have come in for Shadow of Mordor and they have been a lot better than I had expected them to be. Then I got to have some hands on time with the game at EGX this weekend and loved it! Next thing you know its pre-ordered, dispatched and on its way to me (thanks to The Game Collection).
Shadow of Mordor is a third person action adventure game with elements of Batman: Arkham series and Assassins Creed. What sets it apart is in the unique Nemesis system. This system actively monitors the rise and fall of Sauron's army, from the highest warchief to the lowliest grunt. What does that mean for the player? Well, in my brief go at EGX it meant that when I was killed by a Uruk foot soldier, he gained power and respect, which then meant he challenged a Captain to duel and won. He was then promoted to Captain and became even stronger. When I resurrected and tracked him down again, he tuanted me about how he killed me once and he would do it again. Its a cool feature and one that surely is going to change the way enemies are handled in games from now on.
To celebrate the launch of the game, WB Games have released the launch trailer. This trailer goes into the story of the game and ranger that you play. The trailer dives into the story behind the award-winning action game set between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
Talion, a Ranger of the Black Gates, is slaughtered alongside his family and is resurrected by the powerful Wraith, Celebrimbor. The two will face the might of Sauron’s Army and Black Captains with the aid of unexpected allies, ultimately confronting The Dark Lord himself.
Take a look below...
Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ is available from Friday 3rd October for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

PlayStation Plus Update - August 2014
Posted by
Mark
Yes I know, I missed a month, but with good reason (see my latest Little Gamer Update). To be honest July's offering for PS Plus was was not the greatest. Although that is all going to change today with the August update for PS Plus subscribers. This month sees two exclusive indie titles that I have been looking forward to released for FREE! Two more classic indie titles that most people should already own, a LEGO game for another easy platinum. Oh! and Crysis 3.
Little Gamers Update - The one where I forgot to post

Erm, Hi! Remember me? We used to hang out a few months back... Yeah that's right, I would write about gaming and you all had to just read my opinion and accept them. Guess what, I'm Back!
So what excuse have I got this time or letting the site slip into almost obscurity. Too much work? Too much home life issues? Nope, for a change it is none of those problems. The reason I haven't written a post for so long is that I have been seriously gaming and having an absolute blast doing so.

Watch_Dogs - Video Highlights
Posted by
Mark

Watch_Dogs has been out for almost a week and somehow I have managed to find the time to play the game, record some footage and edit it all together for your enjoyment. As per usual when a big title I have been anticipating finally comes out, real-life steps in and does its best to keep me away from my console.
This video just shows off some of the games features in action like hacking and how that works in various scenarios, combat and driving. Also, I found a little Easter Egg in a shop that I have put at the end. It's worth the wait

Why I Love Watch_Dogs
Posted by
Mark

Two years after its stunning unveiling at E3 2012 ushered the first glimpse of the next generation of gaming. Ubisoft's cyber crime open world game, Watch_dogs was released this week. I was there at my local branch of Game at midnight, ready to embrace this on my new shiny Next Gen platform, the PS4. There is a part of me that can't believe that I am actually getting to play this on Next Gen kit. I had expected to still be rocking the PS3 when this came out.

PS3 Catch-up: inFamous
Posted by
Mark

With the release of inFamous: Second Son only a few weeks away now, I thought it would be a good chance to actually play the original titles on the PS3. I got the original inFamous when I got my PS3 last Christmas and it kind of got buried in the rush to play games like Heavy Rain and Uncharted. So it was with some guilt that I booted up the game after not touching it for a year.

Batman: Arkham Origins Week - Day 3
Posted by
Mark
Another day, another trailer. This new launch trailer takes a look at the story behind Batmans latest challenge. Will the young Bruce Wayne survive his first real test of his alter ego's mettle and rise to become the legend?
It certainly looks like we are going to have our hands full of villain come Friday. It doesn't stop there though. Lets not forget that Friday sees the release of not one, but two Batman games. Vita owners can get their hands on Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. Take a look at the trailer for the game.
Set three months after the events of Arkham Origins,a prison revolt at Blackgate Prison allows Joker, Penguin and Black Mask to seize the prison. Batman goes to investigate and he quickly learns that there is more to this than your average uprising. Using a pseudeo-2D metroid style the game manages to retain the feel of the console versions whilst feeling at home on the handhelds.
Hopefully, the review embargo will lift tomorrow so that we can report the first reviews on both of these huge games.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes - Launch Trailer
Posted by
Mark
Those lucky Americans! They get their hands of the latest LEGO blockbuster today. Meanwhile in Europe, we have to wait until the 15th November. Never mind though, we can console ourselves by enjoying the new launch trailer for the game. In all its Stan Lee goodness!
Now for the bad news. Although I had been told that the PS Vita version of LEGO: Marvel Super Heroes was based off the home console versions and not the 3DS port. Thats not true it appears. On the Vita and 3DS the game is known as LEGO: Marvel Super Heroes - Universe in Peril and is an isometric Diablo-esque game using the levels and scenarios from the main home console version. There is no free roaming open world, just levels.
Of course there is good news as well.... It still looks like a great game on its own merits. Have a look at this gameplay video posted by YouTube user Marc The Geek.
Its not what Vita owners wanted, but it still looks like good fun.
LEGO videogame of the year smashes its way into UK retailers from 15th November on practically format available.
Batman: Arkham Origins Week - Day 2
Posted by
Mark
Welcome to day 2 of our Batman: Arkham Origins week. After yesterday's 17 minute gameplay video (see it in full here), Lets take a look at the cast of Gotham's criminal elite that are out to kill the young Caped Crusader on snow covered Christmas Eve.
As Gotham's premier crime lord, Black Mask has seen his empire suffer from the actions of Batman. He is not the kind of man to take this lightly and he has put a contract out on Batman's head. The terms are simple $50,000,000 to the person who kills the Bat! An offer like this is bound to attract the attention of some pretty nasty people. Kind of like this bunch of killers, criminals and mercenaries.
Deathstroke, a veteran merc and expert hitman. Slade Wilson joined the US Army at 16 and excelled wherever he was sent and this ended with him being transferred to a secret experimental military programme and was endowed with superhuman speed, strength and healing. Deathstroke is an expert in all weapons, but he prefers close combat with his sword.
Copperhead is a mystery, reports of someone using the moniker Copperhead point to a man. This Copperhead is most definitely not a man, but is possibly even more deadly. Agile, ferocious and may even be poisionous. Copperhead seeks to trap a Bat in her jaws.
Deadshot, another ex-military expert turned mercenary for hire. Deadshot has just one ability, but it is a good one. He is the best shot in the world with any firearm. He often uses impossible techniques and ricochets to take out his targets. His lack of self regard often leads him to take huge risks to make things challenging.
Before Venom transformed him into monster, Bane was still still every bit as formidable. His large build and strength along with his training makes him almost unstoppable. Not much more is known about this mercenary.
It maybe the worst snowstorm Gotham has seen in years, but at least this guys is here to bring a little heat.Firefly, a pyromaniac with over 70% burns over his entire body. He now uses a suit that slows him to fly and a military Flame thrower. A wise man once said that some my just want to watch the world burn, Firefly is one of those.
Anarky, a techno terrorist turned bomber. Anarky has moved up from social media anarchist to bomber. Although he is not the most wanted or dangerous of Batman's foes this Christmas Eve. His spread of bombs across the city need to be stopped before he causes serious damage,
That just leaves Gotham's over crime lord, Oswald Cobblepot. Batman's activities have hurt his operations just as much as Black Mask's and there is nothing that Penguin wouldn't do to have The Dark Knight put off the streets forever.
Looks like Batman has his hands full with all of these people coming at him at once. At least it could not get any worse for him. Right?

Batman: Arkham Origins Week - Day 1
Posted by

What better way to start a week of Arkham Origins coverage than with a brand new 17 minute sneak peek at some of the early gameplay of Batman: Arkham Origins. Featuringa commentary from Senior Producer Ben Mattes and Gameplay Director Michael McIntyre at WB Games Montréal. During this video you will see Batman explore the Batcave, beat down on thugs (natch) and infiltrate a corrupt Gotham City Police Department. You really feel that this game is set during Batman's early career and it is interesting to see him have to battle both thugs, cops and assassins.
From this footage and the gameplay demo I had at Eurogamer all of my reservations about a new team handling Rocksteady's awesome series has been quelled. This may even be the best Batman game in the series. Look forward to more Batman as we go Dark Knight nuts over the next few days.
