Playstation Plus - May 2014 Update

Oh my goodness! How on earth can be it PlayStation Plus update time again? Sony have revealed the titles that are joining the instant game collection next week on the 30th April. As usual, its a mixed bag and the curse of the PSN sales strikes again for me! Lets Start off with what PlayStation 4 owners can grab next week.

Stick it to the Man (PS4)

Stick it to the Man is your average platform adventure game about a guy with a 16 foot pink spaghetti arm sticking out of his head. Quite niche, I know! Waking from a coma to find that he has this new apendage, Ray finds himself being chased by Governement agents and the mysterious "The Man". Thankfully his head arm has the ability to read peoples thoughts and manipulate peoples actions. Expect alot of crazy antics in this "Double Fine" inspired adventure from Swedish Developer, Zoink!.

Puppeteer (PS3)

Now for me this is the big game of the month. I have been wanting to play this game since playing the demo late last year. Puppeteer is Platform game from Japan Studio, makers of such classics like Gravity Rush, Knack (HEY! I like it!) and LocoRoco. Playing as a little boy called Kutaro, you find yourself kidnapped by the Moon Bear King and transformed into a puppet. Then to make matters worse he loses his head! Luckily, Kutaro can steal the heads of his foes and use them to give himself new abilities. He discovers a very special pair of scissors to help him on his harrowing adventure to find his head, and his way home.

Puppeteer has a beautiful art style, made to look like you are playing a puppet theatre show. This game is another of those undiscovered gems that was overlooked in the sea of big AAA titles last winter. Really looking forward to playing this one.

Payday 2 (PS3)

Several months ago, PS Plus gave us Payday as part of its monthly update. I haven't even got round to starting it up to see what its all about. Now the 2013 sequel, Payday 2 is coming to PlayStation Plus. A co-op heist shooter, Payday 2, sees people team to plan and pull off a variety of jobs ranging from bank heists, convience store robberies, kidnappings and even cyber crime. These jobs can now also be multi part jobs or just quick single mission ones. Sounds like a lot of fun and the only way to do online heists until GTA Online finally adds the much wanted heist mode.

Murmasa Rebirth (PSV)

Both Vita games that available this month are ones I picked up in the Winter Sale. So no Vita games for me this month. Having said that, the two title on offer are absolute must have titles. Starting with Muramasa Rebirth a 2D side scrolling action RPG, which was orginally on the Wii. The game features two separate storylines, in which two warriors head off on their quest. One goes east, one goes west in order to locate demon swords that will allow them to acheive their ulitmate goal.

Muramasa Rebirth has gorgeous hand drawn backgrounds and characters, which look even better on the Vita's OLED screen. The action is combo based and kind of like Ninja Gaiden in 2D. The game is brilliant and another worthy addition to the Vita game collection.

Everybodys Golf (PSV)

Finally this month is a fan favorite. If own a Vita and don't already have this game, then shame on you! Everybodys Golf is brilliant and take all of the great features from the PS3 version and chucks it in to this amazing Vita game. Online play, Tournaments, Turn based play and a ton of offline modes make this one of the best launch titles on the Vita and still one the best sports titles on the platform.

So there we have it, another months of gaming pleasure for a simple £40 per subscription. Kind of wished that this month saw some Spider-Man related goodness on any platform, but never mind.

See you next month for another instalment of games to download and just sit on your hard drive!
