PlayStation Plus - April 2015 Update

PlayStation Plus has been back on a roll the last few months. The monthly titles added to the instant game collection have been great. Its carrying on this month with another set of 6 great titles for all 3 Sony platforms, available on Wednesday 8th April. Let's take a closer look.

PlayStation 4:

Never Alone

The first videogame to be funded by actual inuits . Never Alone is a retelling of Alaskan folk tales, where you take control of the young inuit, Nuna and her loyal canine companion, Fox. The game is a highly atmospheric platforms with puzzle elements. It is a title I had been waiting to play and look forward to experience the world of the Inupiat tribe.

Tower of Guns

From thought provoking puzzler to guns, guns, guns! Tower of Guns is a retro styled first person shooter, that dispenses of the triviality of things like story and missions. Kill the bad guys and defeat the bosses. Simple! This in random levels and enemies and this tower should take a while to beat.

PlayStation 3:

Dishonoured

Dishonoured is the best stealth action game of the last generation and the game that the Thief reboot wanted to be. Dishonoured sees you take control of Corvo, protector of the empress. Framed for murder and on the run. Corporate takes the fight back to those who stole his life away and sets to assassinate the conspirators. What follows is a fantastic first person adventure of stealth, murder and mayhem (if you cannot avoid it). I have to admit that a return to Dunball is well over due. Maybe we might see Dishonoured 2 at Bethesda's Pre E3 show in June?

Aaru's Awakening

Aaru's Awakening is beautiful 2D platforms that has a hand drawn style. Taking control of titular creature, Aaru. Players have to traverse the levels using his two powers, teleportation and charging. I don't know much more about this game, but from the trailer it looks like it is worth a look at.

PlayStation Vita:

Killzone Mercenary

The last of the big AAA first party titles on the Vita and still one of the best showcases of what the little machine is truly capable of. Killzone Mercenary attempts to bring the full PlayStation 3 Killzone experience to the Vita and succeeds. Now with addition of  offline Bot modes even multiplayer fun can be had where ever you may be. I am sure that a lot of Vita owners already have this, but if you are new to the system and haven't got around to picking this up. You are in for a treat! Great single player campaign and fantastic multiplayer. If only Sony still made game so this quality for the forgotten console.

MonsterBag

When was the last time you played a videogame from a Chilean developer? Probably never, but not anymore as Monster bag comes straight out of Chile and onto the Vita. Another Platform puzzler, but a really cute and fascinating one, where you control a little monster on his quest to find his friend.

All in all its another bumper month for all PlayStation owners no matter what their console of choice is. Let's hope that the service can keep going at this quality next month.

PS: Also you can download Whoa Dave! for free as well, although it is not officially part of this month's Plus lineup.

PlayStation Plus Update - March 2015

Typical! After days of waiting for an announcement about March 2015 PS Plus update, I go to the pub for a few hours and BAM! They announced the games coming to the instant game collection, tomorrow! That's right tomorrow. Sony have a track record of getting March's announcement out but this time it was really cutting it fine. So seeing as it is so late at night lets just get in to it.

Stick It To the Man - Let's Play Part 1

Yesterday saw the latest title to join the PlayStation 4's Instant game collection, Stick it to the Man. Zoink's platform adventure game that follows Ray, who has a pink spaghetti arm growing out of his head.
What better way to showcase this month's new PlayStation Plus game and the new SHAREfactory video suite than with a quick Let's Play video of the opening chapters of Stick it to the Man. So sit back, grab a brew and enjoy.
Cue Video....

Hooray! Its that time of the month where we all get to learn we free stuff we can get for the month ahead. For the first time though, I am looking forward to getting and playing free games on three PlayStation platforms. Playstation Plus - March 2014 Update

This months PlayStation Plus update has seen a few people start to freak out a little bit. Sony left it quite late in the month to announce what we are getting this on 5th March. The advantage to this is that PS4 owners now get this game on the same day as everyone else. Which is nice if you one (It's my birthday this month...hint hint). So what can we expect this month. Will it match the quality of the last couple of month offerings?

Playstation Plus - February Update

Well after couple of months away, it is time to get TwoLittleGamers back to normal updates. So let's start with a PlayStation Plus update. Song's monthly barrage of free games now extends onto three platforms,  which means I now to get  stack up games for a platform I do not even own (yet!).  As well as not finding the time to play the titles for the platforms I do own. This means my backlog is at a all time high and I am currently working on bringing my "Page of Shame" to the site,  so you can all mock me.

PlayStation Plus - August Update

I would like to say that Saints Row the Third is done and that I have conquered Battlefield 3 both single and multi-player, earning Platinum Trophies for everything along the way. Truth is, I haven't. Saints Row 3, I managed to squeeze about a hour into. Battlefield, I have done the prologue and Payday, not even loaded it.

With the likes of The Last of Us (still not completed) and Hotline Miami being released, I don't stand a chance to play the mounting digital mountain of titles the Plus scheme has given me so far. So the last thing I need is another bumper update in August of top quality titles, but that is what we are getting....

PlayStation Plus - July Update

Good news everyone! There are not really any decent new games out until the end of August! That means I have a chance to actually catch up playing some of the PS3 titles I have sat on my hard disk from the instant game collection. Not that I am knocking getting free games every month, but when are you meant to play them all. Bearing in mind that during the month of June, PS Plus subscribers were actually given 7 new titles to download (9 if you have a Vita as well) 4 of those being lengthy adventure games. It seems like a few days ago I was writing last months update, and now the time has come again. July's titles have been announced.

Better sit down, this is going to be Epic.

Playstation Plus - Surprise Update!!

Sony have just has a surprise announcement regarding some new additions to the PS3 Instant Game Collection. Since the service launched last year three titles have been part of the collection since day one. Little Big Planet 2, Infamous 2 and Motorstorm Apocalypse are leaving the instant game collection next week as part of the weekly PlayStation Store update.

They are to be replaced with three new titles that will join the collection for the next year! These games are...

Playstation Plus Update - February 2013

February's Playstation Plus titles have been annouced this afternoon on the Playstation EU Blog. It is a pretty epic month for all you Plus subscribers. Another 5 games are to be added to the instant game collection and they are all amazing games. Lets start with PS3 titles avaliable on the 6th Feb.

Sleeping Dogs is first up and is a massive addition to the Instant Game Collection. Sleeping Dogs was one of  2012's anticipated games and it certainly didn't disappoint. Set in Hong Kong, follow the journey of undercover police officer, Wie Shen. As he takes on the Triads in quest for justice and revenge. Though as with all good Hong Kong thrillers, where will his loyalties lie? With the Police Superiors or his adopted Triad family? I reviewed this last year and gave it a superb 9/10

Next up is a nice surprise and a rest from all the guns and violence. Codemasters F1 Race Stars joins the collection. Its a nice little Kart racer, based around and featuring the stars of Formula 1 (obviously). I had a play of this at the EG expo last year and did seem lots of fun.

Finally, PS3 owners can also download Quantum Conudrum, a first person dimension changing puzzler, from one of the creators of the legendary Portal. So that should keep you guys busy!

Meanwhile Vita owners, do not worry! You have not been forgotten. February sees two of the best Vita titles added to the Vita Game Collection... for free!

Finally, Wipeout 2048 comes to European Plus line up. What can I say about 2048? It is beautiful, fast and fluid. It possibly is the greatest version of Wipeout to date (especially if you have the HD and Fury packs added to it). One last thing, it is rock hard , an immense challenge and it drives me insane! Pick it up on the 13th February and enjoy one of the best racers on the system.

20th February sees Lumines: Electronic Symphony added to the collection as well. Lumines is a fantastic puzzle game series that combines the block action of tetris, with the music and rhythm of amplitude. Its the kind of game where you turn on , tune in and lose hours of your life.

With all this good news, there must be some sad news. The following titles will be removed from the Plus service next week. If you haven't got them yet, now is your last chance!

6th February: BioShock 2
6th February: Ratchet and Clank All 4 One
6th February: Cubixx HD
13th February: Jet Set Radio
20th February: Pinball Arcade

PS Vita 2.0 Firmware - Out now!

Sony have, as promised, released the latest software upgrade for the Vita. Apart from adding what is necessary for tomorrows launch of Playstation Plus on the Vita, there are quite a few fixes and additions.

The biggest feature is the huge update to the Web browser application. Now with a new rendering engine and capable of supporting HTML5 and JavaScript. There is a real speed increase and the browser is now classed as a "small app". This means that you no longer have to close your running game in order to use the browser.

Email has now been included into the Vita's features and hooking it up to my Gmail has shown a very nice interface and a good alternative to reading email on your phone.

There also new options for wireless content transfer between PC/ PS3 to your Vita. PSone emulations also have some new included options for custom controls and screen size.

Take a look at the feature list below and enjoy the video at the top of the page. Don't forget, tomorrows store update includes the Playstation Plus games. Europe gets Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, Tales from Space and new game Chronovolt. Also a range of games are 20% off for one week to celebrate the launch.
