Bloodborne - Gameplay - Worst Vet Ever?
Posted by
Mark
So I finally caved and got Bloodborne at the weekend. All I seem to hear on podcasts recently is people gushing over how good it is. I have never finished a "Souls" game, I never made it past the second boss in Dark Souls II! This time though I hope to dedicate sometime to this and actually get through it. I hope!
So spent some time this weekend getting used to it and after a while it felt like I was starting to get the hang of it. I even managed to take down the Cleric Beast on my second attempt. Thats when I got it. Why people play these games. The sense of accomplishment. I felt elated that I had managed to take down this big nasty thing. I was doing something right and I started to feel more bad ass. Now I can roam around that starting area like a boss, finding shortcuts to new areas, taking down what ever monsters crawl out of the darkness and grinding Blood Echoes. It seemed I was getting the hang of it, until I met Father Gascoigne, that is.
I leave you with a little snippet of Bloodborne gameplay. I get the feeling that this hunter is not going to pass Vet School any time soon with his current bedside manner!

PlayStation Plus - April 2015 Update
Posted by
Mark
PlayStation Plus has been back on a roll the last few months. The monthly titles added to the instant game collection have been great. Its carrying on this month with another set of 6 great titles for all 3 Sony platforms, available on Wednesday 8th April. Let's take a closer look.
PlayStation 4:
Never Alone
The first videogame to be funded by actual inuits . Never Alone is a retelling of Alaskan folk tales, where you take control of the young inuit, Nuna and her loyal canine companion, Fox. The game is a highly atmospheric platforms with puzzle elements. It is a title I had been waiting to play and look forward to experience the world of the Inupiat tribe.
Tower of Guns
From thought provoking puzzler to guns, guns, guns! Tower of Guns is a retro styled first person shooter, that dispenses of the triviality of things like story and missions. Kill the bad guys and defeat the bosses. Simple! This in random levels and enemies and this tower should take a while to beat.
PlayStation 3:
Dishonoured
Dishonoured is the best stealth action game of the last generation and the game that the Thief reboot wanted to be. Dishonoured sees you take control of Corvo, protector of the empress. Framed for murder and on the run. Corporate takes the fight back to those who stole his life away and sets to assassinate the conspirators. What follows is a fantastic first person adventure of stealth, murder and mayhem (if you cannot avoid it). I have to admit that a return to Dunball is well over due. Maybe we might see Dishonoured 2 at Bethesda's Pre E3 show in June?
Aaru's Awakening
Aaru's Awakening is beautiful 2D platforms that has a hand drawn style. Taking control of titular creature, Aaru. Players have to traverse the levels using his two powers, teleportation and charging. I don't know much more about this game, but from the trailer it looks like it is worth a look at.
PlayStation Vita:
Killzone Mercenary
The last of the big AAA first party titles on the Vita and still one of the best showcases of what the little machine is truly capable of. Killzone Mercenary attempts to bring the full PlayStation 3 Killzone experience to the Vita and succeeds. Now with addition of offline Bot modes even multiplayer fun can be had where ever you may be. I am sure that a lot of Vita owners already have this, but if you are new to the system and haven't got around to picking this up. You are in for a treat! Great single player campaign and fantastic multiplayer. If only Sony still made game so this quality for the forgotten console.
MonsterBag
When was the last time you played a videogame from a Chilean developer? Probably never, but not anymore as Monster bag comes straight out of Chile and onto the Vita. Another Platform puzzler, but a really cute and fascinating one, where you control a little monster on his quest to find his friend.
All in all its another bumper month for all PlayStation owners no matter what their console of choice is. Let's hope that the service can keep going at this quality next month.
PS: Also you can download Whoa Dave! for free as well, although it is not officially part of this month's Plus lineup.

We left Galahad and company investigating a brothel. Moving away from the charms of the Cockney ladies, let's get stuck in to what The Order does best... Shooting stuff. The action finally kicks in and the cutscenes take a back seat in this part of Let's Play: The Order 1886!

Last time, the brave Sir Galahad had endured his greatest challenge, the unskippable cutscene. Now, he is free to roam around Nikola Tesla's labratory. Don't worry viewer! This part of the playthrough ends up Whitechapel, with The Order investigating the rebel held area for clues of the Lycan threat... and a local brothel! You know... to be sure.

The Order: 1886 - Chapter 1 - Always a Knight - Part 3

Welcome back! At the end of part 2, Galahad had corned the escapees in the London Underground. Although they had a surprise for him, the are Lycan (Werewolves to you and me). With two of them despatched, one is on the loose in London. Let the chase begin!
Hope you enjoyed the video, I guess I should fo warned you before that there was got to be a long unskippable cutscene. At least carries over in to the next video. Will Galahad find what he was looking for in the laboratory of Nikola Tesla? Will he pick something up and rotate it around for 5 minutes for no reason? Find out next time on Let's Play The Order: 1886.

Carrying on with my playthrough of PS4 Exclusive, The Order:1886, things are about to get messy in the opening chapter. With Bedlamites taking hostages and causing havoc. It is down to the Knights of The Order to hunt them down and stop them before they escape in the tunnels of the London Underground. Have The Order bitten off more than they can chew though?

Assassin's Creed Unity - Review (PS4)
Posted by
Mark
I had it all sorted this Christmas. I asked for Dragon Age: Inquisition for Christmas, knowing that it would be the perfect time for me to throw myself into a 50 hour game. So imagine my surprise a month later that I am still only 4 hours into it. The reason for this may shock you and I feel like I should be ashamed of it. I am playing Assassin's Creed Unity and I like it.

Alien: Isolation - What was I thinking?

Mark
I want to make one thing clear right now. 8 years ago I was a fan of all things horror related. Then came the Little Gamers and somewhere during that transistion I turned into a total wuss. I don't know why this happened or how, but these days I have no desire to watch anything too scary. Recently I tried to play Outlast and got 10 minutes in, put it down and never returned.

Watch_Dogs - Video Highlights
Posted by
Mark

Watch_Dogs has been out for almost a week and somehow I have managed to find the time to play the game, record some footage and edit it all together for your enjoyment. As per usual when a big title I have been anticipating finally comes out, real-life steps in and does its best to keep me away from my console.
This video just shows off some of the games features in action like hacking and how that works in various scenarios, combat and driving. Also, I found a little Easter Egg in a shop that I have put at the end. It's worth the wait

This weeks round-up of our PS4 action, sees me finally get my Battlefield 4 on. Graduating from helicopter school with flying colours (almost). There is plenty of pirate goodness in ACIV Black Flag and a look at Mercenary Kings, which kinda got forgotten on the pile of shame.

With the release of the new 1.70 firmware update on PlayStation 4, comes the new video editing suite, SHAREfactory. This allows you to take your saved game-play clips and edit them, add transitions, combine clips, add commentary or music, even add themes based on game titles. It really adds a new level to sharing experience of Sony's new flagship console. Here is a introduction to SHAREfactory and how it all works.
Also, update 1.70 brings lots of other new features as well including Automatic pre-download of select pre-ordered games from PlayStation Store. There’s also a countdown timer prior to the release of the game so you’ll know how soon your game will be available for you to start playing.
Twitch broadcasting in HD. The resolution for live broadcasts has been increased to 720p HD. Also you can now archive your broadcasts on Twitch or Ustream and watch them again later.
New light bar settings have been added for DUALSHOCK 4, allowing you to change it to Bright, Medium or Dim in the Settings menu. The touchpad has also been updated, allowing you to navigate the on-screen keyboard using the DUALSHOCK 4 touchpad.
