At launch there are 17 figures available. 3 of these are included in the starter kit, the rest are available as either single figures or in multi-packs. In the first wave of figures the focus is on The Incredibles, Monsters University, Cars, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Lone Ranger.

Infinity Week - Day 2 - How to use the Toy Box

So yesterday, we looked at Disney Infinity as a whole. Today though we are going delve deeper into the awesome "Toy Box". Imagine a gameworld where Minecraft meets LittleBigPlanet. Where you can shape and create your world to look and feel like your favorite film and then make games adventures for you and your friends to play in. Welcome to the Toy Box!

The beautiful thing about the Toy Box mode is that at the surface it is simple enough to let your kids create great looking worlds with ease. Yet, peel away the surface and the various editors allow for some complex designing and customising. Lets take a look at how easy it is to use Power Discs to change the way your environment looks.

Nice and simple with great looking results. So now you have created a nice themed world what do you want to do with it? How about expanding on the idea of a race track? How would you go about making a really cool karting track? Lets see...

Finally, Lets see what happens when you combine the advance editor elements to make a working Football stadium with working scoreboards and confetti cannons.

Once again, the tagline "infinite possibilities, endless fun" springs to mind. The Toy Box is the one of the most exciting elements of the game and one that is sure to keep Little Gamers (and their parents) coming back again and again.

Infinity Week - Day 1 - What is Disney Infinity

With the UK release of Disney Infinity only a few days away. Two Little Gamers is going to dedicate this week to this incredible new game. Let's start with the simple question... What is Disney Infinity?

Disney Infinity is a complicated thing. Collectable figures, virtual playsets and power discs, all combining into a videogame based sandbox via a portal device connected to your games console. Simply place a figure on the Infinity Portal and Presto! They are in the game for you to play with. So far its all very Skylanders, right? Wrong! Disney Infinity then takes the genre to a new level by adding Playsets and Power Disc's.

The Playset blocks fit in the back section of the portal and allow the user access to a themed world full of fun and mission. Plus it unlocks special themed items to use in the creation mode called "Toy Box". Place a  Power Disc underneath your figure and you unlock a special power for them to use. Place a hexagonal Power Disc under your playset piece to unlock objects, vehicles, or even new themes for your Toy Box.

The Toy Box mode is where the real action takes place. Players can create and design their own themed worlds full of activities they can design and share with the friends and play with them. Whether it be creating a football game or a race track, even a flying race. The possibilities are endless (which is also the tagline for the game) and with the addition of more Characters (the second Wave is coming as soon as October) and new Playsets and Powers, Kids and adults can look forward to playing in Infinity for a long time to come.

The cost of Disney Infinity?

Usually the Daily Mail likes to warn its readership about the risks of playing video games. Their targets are typically games like Call of Duty, Battlefield and of course, Grand Theft Auto. This time though the Daily Mail seem to have an issue with a game for children. Disney Infinity, a video game that mixes virtual action with collectable figures.

The Last of Us - Multiplayer Impressions

Whilst the gaming world is enamored with the incredible single player experience. I have found myself drawn to the multi-player game, Factions. I don't really indulge in multi-player sides of games these day, so for me to find myself choosing to play Factions over finishing the single player is quite a big thing for me. The reason for this is simple. Naughty Dog have taken a tried and tested formula and wrapped it up in some nice new wrapping paper, that expands on the world of The Last of Us.

E3 - PlayStation 4 - Sony Strikes Back

No sooner had the dust settled after Microsoft's conference, it was Sony's turn at the bat. After weeks of debate over the Xbox One's restrictive policies on game ownership, used games and even privacy protection. It seemed that Sony wouldn't need to do much in order to take the upper hand.

Instead Sony blew the Xbox One out of the water.

The Last of Us - New Trailer and launch date.

Sony and Naughty Dog unveiled the newest trailer for their upcoming PS3 exclusive title, The Last of Us, at the 10th Video Game Awards over the weekend. This new trailer is the first to focus on the games story and also the first to show areas outside of the city previously seen in the trailers and playthroughs.

The game sure looks like it is going to be an epic adventure. It still looks like its I am Legend meets the Walking Dead and Uncharted mash-up. That is not a criticism in any way. Anyway the game looks amazing and now we only have to wait until 7th May 2013 to play it.

(Note to self: Need to get a PS3 before May 2013)

LittleBigPlanet arrives on the Vita on Friday!

With all this Borderlands 2 talk this week, it needs to be remembered that the Vita sees the beginning of its Christmas game assault on Friday as well. Starting with the return of Sackboy. LittleBigPlanet launches on the Vita and is looking fantastic.

With Media Molecule concentrating on the amazing new Vita game, Tearaway. Development duties have been handed over to Tarsier Studios and Double Eleven. Not to worry though Tarsier have been involved with all the Little Big Planet games at some level, so Sackboy is safe in their hands.

This time the game takes place not on the usual setting of Craftworld, but on the travelling planet of Carnivalia. Carnivalia used to be a place filled with happiness and joy. Now though the entire planet has now been taken over by the mysterious Puppeteer and his evil henchmen, the Hollows! So, it’s up to Sackboy to do what he does best... save the Omniverse!

To celebrate the launch of LittleBigPlanet PS Vita. Sony are offering lots of pre-order goodies and launch week gifts.

If you Pre-Order the physical game you can expect to recieve awesome BioShock Minipack or the exclusive golden color set of Knights of the Old Pre-Order Costumes. Long-time fans of LittleBigPlanet will know that to celebrate the release of a new LittleBigPlanet game an extra-special Rare T-Shirt is released for just one week only. This time is not different and the Rare LittleBigPlanet PS Vita T-Shirt will be available to download from the PSN Store this week only! (Price to be Confirmed)

Also the tradtion of releasing the Launch Space Suit for a new LittleBigPlanet game continues. The Launch Space Suit is free, and will also be returning to the PSN Store for just one week, so don’t miss out on this astronomical attire for Sackboy.

If you have a Vita, please do not miss this incredible game. Also start celebrating the end of the software drought, as Fifa 13 is out next week. E3 part 2 - Sony gets it wrong!

Sony took to the stage the next day. I was excited as this is the first E3 for many years as a Sony console owner. As Sony's big gamble this year, surely the Vita would feature heavily in their presentation.

Wrong!

Whilst not completely ignored, The Vita was reduced two big game announcements and one of those was backed up with just a logo. Happily for this gamer, the other announcement was exactly what I wanted. More on the later...

The big games of their press conference were:

Playstation All Stars Battle Royale

Sony's attempt to make a Sony branded version of Nintendo's highly successful Super Smash Bros series, was on show. With two new characters added to the roster. Nathan Drake from the Uncharted series and the Big Daddy from Bioshock. Seeing as the latter is from a multi-format title, it would appear that the fears that Sony do not have enough properties to make a decent sized roster. How many gaming characters from recent years are going to crop up in this title. More will be revealed as the year goes on.

PS3 and Vita versions were shown and cross-play between Vita and PS3 and looked amazing. Gameplay wise it ticks all the boxes. It is a Sony version of SSB. Let the Battle Royale commence soon!

Little Big Planet PS Vita

Sackboy is almost ready for his Vita début. Currently a select amount of gamers are tackling the beta. Sony showed a new trailer at E3, which focused more on the Single player story levels rather than the creative aspect of the game.

Having never played any of the Little Big Planet games and my love affair with the sandbox genre, I cannot wait to get on the big planet.

Beyond: Two Souls

David Cage's new game for PS3 was one of the major announcements for PlayStation 3. Quantic Studios continue to push the barriers of gaming with their latest title Beyond: Two Souls. Starring Hollywood's Ellen Page as the main protagonist, all I can say is watch the trailer below and be amazed.

The Last of Us

Naughty Dog gave the PS3 Nathan Drake and the incredible Uncharted franchise. So when they announced that they were announced they were going to be working on a new title that did not feature Mr Drake. Alot of people were shocked.

The Last of Us and it looks like a I am Legend inpsired action game where you control Joel and his young companion Ellie through the streets of post apocalyptic city. Adventure is out of the window in this game. Survival is the main focus. Keeping both Joel and Ellie safe from the gangs of scavengers, whilst traversing the dangerous cityscape.

May have to finally invest in a PS3 this coming Holiday.

Sony PS One classics on Vita

Some good news for Vita owners was that after a new firmware upgrade, due during the summer. The PS Vita will start being compatible with PlayStation One games. Final Fantasy VII and Tomb Raider are part of the first batch of games to be released.

Assassins Creed 3: Liberation

Ubisoft announced a spin-off game from Assassins Creed 3. Liberation is set in New Orleans and features an all new assassin and its a girl! Following the exploits of Aveline, as she fights the templars across New Orleans. Reports from the show floor indicate that while this not the full AC console experience in terms of detail and view distance, but in every other aspect Ubisoft have nailed it on Sony's still young portable.

COD BLOPS Declassified

Sony were pleased to announce that this holiday season will see the release of the longest title name to try and fit on the tiny label of a Vita Game card...

Thats it by the way... No details, no footage, not even a screenshot. Here's hoping it is as good as we all hope it is.

Since, their Press Conference, Sony have admitted that they got it wrong and handled the Vita completely in the wrong way. There are 25 big titles on the way to the Vita by the end of the year and I am sure that I will not regret getting one so early on in its life span. With an Assassins Creed game headed to Vita this year, I am already a very happy gamer.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection coming to Vita in June

Konami confirmed yesterday that the successful Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will be coming to PS Vita, sometime in June. This version of the collection will be featuring Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2 in their original MSX form. Enhanced HD versions of Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 are the main attraction though and are looking good.

The big controversy though is the absence of Peace Walker, the stunning PSP entry into the Metal Gear universe. This maybe down to size restrictions on both card and store download limits. Although, some people suspect that Sony/Konami want Vita users to purchase the PSP version off the store (Currently £15.99).

From my point of view, This collection is good enough on its own. I was disappointed with MGS 3D on the 3DS and this collection looks like it will more than make up for that.
