PlayStation Plus - October Update
Posted by
Mark
I have managed to drag myself away from Los Santos and all its charms (mainly Trevor) and remembered that I run a gaming website. So lets get on with it and what better way to get started than with the latest update for PlayStation Plus. October's update (released this Wednesday) is another stonking selection of top flight entertainment. Starting with...
Far Cry 3 is one of the best first person shooters of recent years and the best open world shooter out there. A group of friends are captured when their extreme sports vacation takes them to the wrong side of a bad island. Trapped on the Rook Islands, you need to find and free your friends before the local warlords kill them. Your journey will see you face your own demons and test your sanity. We rated this game a 10 out of 10 last year and if you haven't played it yet, now is the perfect chance.
Next up is Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen the standalone expansion to the successful monster slaying rpg, Dragons Dogma. Thankfully for new players to the game, the entire original game is included so that you catch up with the story before taking on the new quests. This action hack and slash RPG also has elements of survival horror and a fantastic combat system. I have been waiting to play this for a while and I am really pleased to see it arrive on the Instant Game Collection.
Finally for PS3 owners this month comes Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, a modern day sequel to the Amiga classic The Great Giana Sisters (which itself was a Super Mario Bros clone). With great visuals and fantastic platform action, you take on the role of Giana as she fights to free her sister from the dragon who has kidnapped her. Giana can use her two dream personas to help her on journey, ne cute and one punk. Expect lots of classic jewel collecting platform action when it comes to PS Plus later this week.
As always, Vita owners you also have two new titles added to the Vita's growing instant game collection.
Street Fighter X Tekken is the cross over beat em up developed by Capcom and features the characters from the Street Fighter and Tekken universes (Surprisingly!) Set in the same pseudeo 2D scene that Super Street Fighter IV used and features the fast fighting that fans across the world love. Expect to get beaten a lot online.
Finally Touch My Katamari, which is er.... um... the best roll rubbish into an ever increasing ball-em-up ever? Personally, this is one of those quirky Japanese games, that lots of people enjoy and I know I should, but I just don't get it. Might be getting old? At least we can all try this out for free and see if we can grow to love it!
So thats it. Another months worth titles available for you to download this Wednesday with the weekly PSN Store update. Although, I understand if the monster that is GTA V still has you in its grasp, just add them to your account and download them when you are ready to play them (next year sometime!). Until next month then, happy gaming!
